How to revise an AI-assisted draft without changing the argument

Start by stating the paragraph’s claim in one sentence. If you cannot identify it, revise the argument before polishing the wording. A fluent paragraph can still have no useful point.

Note details that should remain exact: quotations, dates, percentages, citations, proper names, and specialist terms. Check those details against the original when reviewing your revision.

Compare one paragraph at a time. Look for changed qualifiers: may versus will, some versus all, associated with versus caused by. These small substitutions can materially change a claim even when every number stays the same.

Check that the revision has not added examples, evidence, or personal experiences you did not supply. Confirm that every reference still supports the sentence beside it. Automated preservation checks are useful, but they cannot replace your judgment about meaning.

Read the final paragraph aloud. Choose clear phrasing you understand and would use. Save the version you prefer and keep the original available for comparison.
