Free use is not the same

Grubby's pricing page lists 300 free words per month. Walter's trial help page describes 300 humanizer words once, plus three days of AI-detector access, with no card. It says the word trial does not renew. These are different ways to try a service; neither offer tells us how well its output will suit your draft.

Two free offers. Different renewal rules.

Plan prices and input limits

Grubby’s two billing views were read on 2 November. Walter’s Annual values were read from its official public pricing page through the web reader; the local browser was blocked, so its current Monthly rates are not reproduced. Grubby displays dollar symbols and Walter’s public Annual page labels USD. Neither checkout was opened: final currency, taxes, charged totals and account-specific offers remain unverified.

The official pricing page displayed the following current prices and caps. Annual figures show the monthly equivalent followed by the stated upfront yearly total.

A monthly equivalent on the Yearly selector is not a promise of separate monthly payments; the subscription help page says yearly subscriptions are paid upfront.

Compare billing and credit periods

Read the charge interval as well as the price. Four weeks is 28 days, and twelve four-week periods cover 48 weeks. A price charged every four weeks should not be treated as a calendar-month price when comparing costs. Grubby's Monthly selector explicitly uses four-week billing.

Grubby's credit labels also vary within that view: the Essential, Pro and Unlimited feature lists say per four weeks, while their headline allowance labels still say per month. The Annual view lists monthly allowances. We have not verified which label controls an account's actual credit refresh; confirm that detail before comparing it as a monthly word allowance (Grubby pricing).

Walter's subscription help page says annual-plan credits refresh monthly and unused credits do not roll over. Paying for a year and receiving a monthly refill are separate things.

Features and language claims

Grubby's pricing page lists plan-specific AutoTyper allowances. Its Terms, section 5, describe AutoTyper as an optional Google Docs text-entry feature involving Google-account authorization. We did not connect an account or test it. Check the permissions and the rules that apply to your work before using a connected tool.

Walter's paid plan cards list an AI detector, MCP access and 80+ languages. These are vendor-stated features; we did not verify access or output quality inside a paid account. A language count does not establish equal quality across languages, and a feature list does not show whether a rewrite preserves your argument or citations.

Which one should you choose?

Use your own requirements to narrow the choice:

  • Trying a small sample: check whether the free allowance renews, expires or is used only once.
  • Working with longer passages: compare the per-request cap as well as the total word allowance. They answer different questions.
  • Budgeting for repeated use: check the actual charge interval, annual upfront total, credit-refresh rules and checkout currency.
  • Choosing by output: inspect meaning, quotations, citations and voice yourself. This public-information comparison cannot identify a quality winner.

Before sharing unpublished or sensitive writing, read each provider's current privacy terms. For HumanWords' own practices, see our Privacy Policy. Our revision checklist can help you compare a rewrite with the original; our guide to detector scores explains why a score is not proof of authorship. Follow the rules that apply to the work.

What this comparison does not establish

We did not run the two services on a matched sample or test paid-account behavior, meaning preservation, speed, privacy handling or detector outcomes. We cannot conclude that either service is more accurate, safer or better at rewriting. Those would require separately documented tests. The tables compare public offers, not measured performance or final checkout charges.
